Embroidery is a brilliant pearl in Chinese folk art with a long history. The practice of Chinese silk embroideries can date back to more than 2000 years ago. Today there are four major styles of embroidery in China: Su, from JiangSu province; Shu, from SiChuan province; Xiang, from HuNan province; and Yue, from GuangDong province. Embroidery occupies an important position in Chinese arts and crafts; it also adds so much pleasure to our life.

The pieces exhibited in our website are all SU embroidery, which is generally agreed as the finest and most exquisite among all Chinese ambroideries. Su is the short name for Suzhou, a south China's water town by the famous Grand Canal. Suzhou and everything from it reflects tranquility, refinement, and elegance. So does Su Embroidery. Moreover, the best silk material in China is also from Suzhou and its vicinity. The climate in this region is so favorable for planting mulberry trees and raising silkworms.
